who we are
Afrika Hi-Fi is a boundary-pushing record label and DJ outfit dedicated to showcasing the most exciting sounds from the African continent and its diaspora. From raw Amapiano and Afro House to Vintage Afro-Funk, Afrobeats and Global fusion, our sets are soulful, high-energy, and always original.
Founded in 2014 by veteran music curator and producer Dennis Tapfuma, Afrika Hi-Fi was born from two decades of experience at the crossroads of culture and sound. As former head of Fourth World Music, Dennis Tapfuma was Executive Producer of Zanzibar Festival Classics, the official soundtrack to Sauti za Busara - one of Africa’s most iconic music festivals. He also co-produced the critically acclaimed Afrolution Vol. 1 – Original African Underground Hip Hop, which the BBC praised as “funky, illuminating and smart… invaluable.”
Our roots run deep, but our mission is future-facing: to amplify the next wave of African and Afro-diasporic talent through unforgettable live DJ sets and bold, genre-defying releases.
